Suddenly, you were gone
From all the lives you left your mark upon
I remember
How we talked and drank into the misty dawn
I hear the voices
We ran by the water on the wet summer lawn
I see the footprints
I remember
I feel the way you would
I feel the way you would
Tried to believe but you know it's no good
This is something that just can't be understood
I remember
The shouts of joy skiing fast through the woods
I hear the echoes
I learned your love for life,
I feel the way that you would
I feel your presence
I remember
I feel the way you would
I feel the way you would
This just can't be understood...

Well If you want a short list just check out the jazz album he produced back in '92, " Burning for Buddy " . It opened his eyes WIDE during the production of that album when the likes of Steve Smith, Vinnie Calluita, Dave Weckl and many others threw down the jazz. He actually asked Steve Smith how he got so good at jazz and Steve said " Freddy Gruber". So he took lessons from Freddy right after that album. Other notables , Dennis Chambers, Tony Williams (RIP), Billy Cobham and many many more.

@DrewDrums76 But, at that level, how do you determine who's 'better'? Peart himself downplays his talent, but seriously, who's 'better'? Buddy Rich? Ok. He's considered the 'litmus test' for aspiring percussionists. I'm not real familiar w/ who's out there now. Throw out some names. I'd be interested to know who's 'better' than Peart - or, as you put it, 'drummers that he can only look up to.' Good art is a matter of opinion.

Neil is the perfect drummer for Rush, and that's all that matters for me.
